Anjela is a must when hosting a dinner party or catering an event in London (or surrounding areas). We hired Anjela for a friend’s 50th birthday celebration. Our rented home in Marylebone was a double-wide “mansion” with uber grand rooms across four floors, except for the micro, ill-equipped kitchen. I start with this fact because it cannot be overstated the magical food prepared from this dungeon. I sent Anjela pictures of the kitchen as soon as we arrived to prepare her mentally (and to give her the opportunity to cancel our engagement). Angela opted to prepare a little bit more at home before arriving for our dinner, but did all the heavy lifting like cooking fish and lamb to order in the home.

 

For dinner Anjela gave us many options, and we set the menu weeks in advance of arriving in London. We chose a four-course dinner consisting of butternut squash veloute with toasted pumpkin seed pesto and homemade sourdough bread, parsley and tarragon crusted cod fillet with celery root sauce and parsley oil, a deconstructed lamb hotpot (slow cooked lamb leg with carrot and onion, and roasted lamb chop with potato galette (along with cardamom carrots and pickled red cabbage)), and a homemade and exquisitely decorated birthday cake. I could go through each course in detail, but this is a review, not a cookbook, but in summary each course consisted of amazing bites comprising the focus ingredient (such as pumpkin, cod, lamb) highlighted by accommpanying herbs, oils, spices, nuts…etc….that when all put together in one forkful of a bite, you were transported to some of London’s (and NY’s) finest dining restaurants. Anjela truly served up 5-star quality dishes. Finally, if all else fails, Anjela should open a bakery. The birthday cake was simply from the screen of a Top Baking competition show or Epicurean food magazine; and the taste matched the beauty!

 

I cannot recommend Anjela to any greater extent. I’ve recommended her to others here in NY and CT, as well as to friends living in London. I am happy to write this review, and wish her new business endevours in the UK much success!
